Cooperative Economics is one of the founding principles of the ROC Freedom Riders. During this ride we made our way to the melanin market and made sure we bought as much as we could handle.

March 23, 2020: Daniel Prude was murdered by police officers in Rochester, New York. On September 19 ROC Freedom Riders amplified Free the People ROC’s messages during Occupy City Hall.

“This is the most emotional vote I’ve ever casted”, said one ROC Freedom Rider after an excursion to the voting polls where all ROC Freedom Riders chanted while waiting to vote early (October 24).
2021 SEASON KICKOFF
Franklin High School
For our kickoff ride we supported Generation Outreach, a career and entrepreneurial exploration program dedicated to rethinking the way education is done in Rochester. Our on-the-go fundraising efforts were directed towards Generation Outreach’s Operation GO, an after-school program teaching high school students how to become entrepreneurs in sneaker creation, video production, graphic/clothing design, app development, and music production.

We made history with a total of 275 registrants for our one-year anniversary ride! In just 27 minutes we increased profits by 35% at Nathaniel Square Convenience Store and raised $1,657 in just 10 minutes for John Lewis Mural artist Ephraim Gebre’s new project– a mural to honor Connie Mitchell and Malcolm X.
2ND ANNUAL BLACK OUT THE 4TH BEACH RIDE
Ontario Beach Park
This was our first ride with no rest stops, but we made up for that with a post-ride Support Black a Black Business Social Hour at Taste of the Bahamas, 4705 Lake Ave. In just 2 hours we increased profits by 100% by supporting the business during “down-time” hours. We brought in almost $900. This ride hit a different side of the Greater Rochester Area than our previous rides and brought with it more new riders.
